Mark Johnson of Mount Ayr was named as the head sports shooting coach for Southwestern in August 2025.

He was previously the Spartans' assistant sports shooting coach from July 2022 to 2024. Under the leadership of Johnson and other coaches, the team won the 2023 National Championship in sporting clays.

In addition to coaching, Johnson works for Iowa Select Farms. He lives in Mount Ayr.
