Alyssa Jeffrey was named head volleyball coach at Southwestern Community College in February 2026, bringing championship-level experience, strong community college ties, and a student-athlete centered coaching philosophy to the Spartan volleyball program.
Jeffrey arrives at Southwestern following a successful tenure at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she served as head volleyball coach beginning in 2023. During her time leading the program, the Lynx finished as conference runner-up in 2023 and district runner-up in both 2023 and 2024. Under her leadership, four student-athletes advanced to continue their volleyball careers at the collegiate level. In addition to volleyball, Jeffrey contributed to the athletic department as an assistant track coach, wrestling student support staff member, and behavior management specialist.
Prior to Abraham Lincoln, Jeffrey gained national championship experience at Iowa Western Community College, serving as an assistant volleyball coach from 2021–23. During her tenure with the Reivers, the program captured the 2021 NJCAA National Championship, along with a conference title and multiple regional championships. She coached alongside a two-time NJCAA National Coach of the Year and helped develop a two-time NJCAA National Player of the Year while contributing to three conference and regional championship teams.
Jeffrey’s coaching background also includes head coaching roles at Kenesaw High School in Nebraska, where she led the program to a district championship and sub-state runner-up finish, as well as multiple club coaching positions with Legacy Volleyball Club in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Top Ten Volleyball Club in Council Bluffs.
A former collegiate student-athlete herself, Jeffrey played volleyball at Iowa Western Community College, helping the Reivers achieve three conference championships and three regional titles while earning NJCAA Regional Academic All-American honors twice.
Jeffrey believes athletics serve as a powerful platform for personal development, emphasizing accountability, teamwork, and resilience. Her coaching philosophy centers on building a positive and inclusive culture that promotes growth athletically, academically, and personally while preparing student-athletes for success beyond competition.
Originally from Sumner, Nebraska, Jeffrey earned an Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Western Community College in 2013 and a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies from Grand Canyon University in 2023.
Jeffrey immediately began recruiting efforts upon joining Southwestern and is focused on building a competitive, high-character volleyball program aligned with the mission and culture of Spartan Athletics.
