Southwestern Community College was named one of 10 men's track & field programs to earn All-Academic Team honors in a press release from USTFCCCA today.

The Southwestern men's track & field team posted a team GPA of 3.36 for the spring semester. To be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, student-athletes must have been considered full-time (12 hours or more). For team ranking and qualification, teams must have a minimum of 10 student-athletes for a track and field roster, and all student-athletes must be listed on either the regional or national roster.

Other institutions receiving the All-Academic Team honor in men's track & field included Barton Community College (3.43), Coffeyville Community College (3.53), Cowley College (3.416), Iowa Central Community College (3.802), Iowa Western Community College (3.71), Mineral Area College (3.26), Monroe University (3.42), SUNY Broome Community College (3.42), and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (3.5).

"This is a great achievement for our men's track & field team," said Scott Vicker, director of cross country/track & field. "These guys worked hard all year, not only on the track, but also in the classroom. I'm very proud of them for their hard work. Being one of only 10 programs across NJCAA to earn this award is a great accomplishment."

In addition to earning the team distinction, seven Spartan track & field athletes earned the distinction of USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. To be considered for individual recognition, student-athletes must have a 3.40 GPA or higher during the spring semester and must be considered full-time (12 hours or more), as well as being listed on the regional or national roster.

Spartan student-athletes receiving individual honors from USTFCCCA are Jacob Driskill of Creston, Peyton Embree of Malvern, Tucker Knox of Mount Ayr, Zach Roome of Sydney, Australia; Dillon Starlin of Creston, Zach Thornburg of Hastings, and Jedd Weinkoetz of Panora.
