Spartans Dance Shines at DTU Regionals, Sweeps Community College Division

Southwestern Dance put together a statement weekend at the Dance Team Union Regionals, earning top honors across all three performance styles and showcasing the program's rising momentum heading into the winter championship stretch.

The Spartans brought precision, style, and undeniable presence to the floor, finishing 1st Place in the Community College division in Pom, Hip Hop, and Jazz. Against a field that included multiple four-year universities, Southwestern held its own with poise and athleticism that demanded attention.

Pom led the charge with the strongest finish of the day. Southwestern captured the Community College title and placed 2nd Overall among all colleges and universities—just 0.7 points shy of first place. The routine blended sharpness and musicality, reflecting the group's continued growth through the early season.

Hip Hop followed with its own statement, earning 1st Place Community College and 4th Overall. The Spartans leaned into athletic choreography and high-energy musical interpretation, delivering one of their cleanest performances to date.

Jazz rounded out the trifecta with another Community College championship and 4th Overall finish. Their routine emphasized control, strength, and emotional clarity—hallmarks of a team settling into competitive form.

Southwestern now turns its attention to the Iowa State Dance Team Association State Championships, held December 4–5 in Des Moines. With momentum from a standout Regional weekend, the Spartans will look to bring the same precision and presence onto the state stage.

The 2025–26 campaign continues to build excitement, and the Spartans are poised for another memorable run as competition season heats up.
