Tanner Olmstead joined the Southwestern Community College baseball coaching staff in the summer of 2026.

Olmstead arrives at Southwestern with coaching experience at the high school and youth levels, most recently serving as a head and assistant coach with the Harrisburg Baseball Association in South Dakota. In that role, he developed practice plans, managed lineups, and worked closely with student-athletes to improve their skills and overall understanding of the game. He also serves as a private baseball instructor, providing individualized training designed to help players reach their full potential.

Olmstead believes in building strong relationships with players while fostering accountability, confidence, and continual improvement. His background in private instruction has helped him develop a personalized coaching style that recognizes every athlete learns differently.

A graduate of Northeast Community College, Olmstead earned an Associate of Arts degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation while competing as a student-athlete. He graduated with honors, posting a 3.88 GPA and earning Dean's List and President's List recognition. He later earned a bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with a minor in Psychology from the University of Nebraska Omaha, graduating magna cum laude after multiple Dean's List and Chancellor's List honors.

In his role with the Spartans, Olmstead assists with recruiting, player development, practice planning, game preparation, and the day-to-day operations of the Southwestern baseball program.
