Throckmorton Earns NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week Honors

Creston, Iowa — The Southwestern Community College baseball program has earned national recognition as sophomore right-hander Wyatt Throckmorton has been named NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the National Junior College Athletic Association Baseball office.

Throckmorton delivered a dominant performance on the mound, showcasing elite command and composure against high-level competition. Highlighted by a no-hit outing, he allowed no hits, no runs, and gave opposing hitters little opportunity to generate offense, firmly establishing himself as one of the top arms in NJCAA Division I baseball this week.

The national recognition comes during a challenging early-season slate for the Spartans, who have faced a demanding road-heavy schedule to open the 2025–26 campaign. Throckmorton's emergence has been a bright spot, anchoring the pitching staff and providing a competitive edge each time he takes the ball.

On the season, Throckmorton ranks among team leaders in key pitching categories, including wins (2) and strikeouts (25), consistently giving Southwestern an opportunity to compete in every outing. His ability to limit damage, attack the strike zone, and miss bats has made him a reliable presence in the rotation.

The Spartans will look to build momentum as they enter conference play in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, with upcoming matchups against Indian Hills Community College and Ellsworth Community College.
