CRESTON, Iowa—Creston's own Taylor Buxton has committed to the Southwestern Community College volleyball team for the 2019 run.

Buxton, a 5-foot, 7-inch right side hitter, is currently completing her senior year at Creston Community High School.

Spartan Head Coach Casey Quiggle is excited to add Buxton to his roster.

"Taylor plays solid in serve receive and defense," Quiggle said. "She is a good all-around player as she has the ability to play as a hitter in the front row and pass and play defense in the back row."

Quiggle said it's rewarding to sign Buxton as a homegrown student-athlete, not only because of her athletic abilities, but also because it adds to the college's fan attendance and local community support.

Buxton not only exceled in volleyball during high school, she was also a Hawkeye Ten honorable mention all-conference selection for soccer. Academically, Buxton received an all-conference academic letter.

She is the daughter of Stacey and Greg Buxton of Creston.
