Alabama runner chooses Southwestern

Taylor Helton of Guntersville, Alabama, signs his National Letter of Intent to run cross country and track at Southwestern Community College.

Southwestern Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach Trey Bruton recently announced the addition of Taylor Helton to the program for the 2020-21 seasons.

Helton, of Guntersville, Alabama, will run both cross country and track for the Spartans. He signed his National Letter of Intent earlier this week.

Helton owns personal best times of 19:22 in the 5K and 2:20 in the 800 meters, with a best of 44.74 in the 300 meter hurdles.

"Taylor brings a good attitude and some natural ability to our program," Bruton said. "He is willing to work hard and has a lot of potential in a lot of areas, especially the middle distance events and 400 meter hurdles. It will be exciting to see him grow and succeed."
