Miles, from Houghton, Johannesburg, South Africa, comes to the Spartans from King Edward VII School, where he has excelled in the 400 meters, 800 meters and the 1,500 in addition to cross country. Miles boasts personal best times of 52.0 in the 400 meters, 1:58 in the 800 meters and 4:15 in the 1,500.

"He is a talented young athlete with a lot of potential to help our team all around," Bruton said. "He has a good work ethic as is evident from his stellar high school career. He will be a versatile asset for us since he can range from some speed events all the way up to the long distance races. We are excited to have him."
