Mississipi Runner Joins Spartans

Southwestern Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach Trey Bruton recently announced the addition of Travion Grant for the 2020-21 seasons.

Grant, of Sandhill, Mississippi, attended classes and competed for Pisgah HS. He signed his National Letter of Intent this week to join the Spartan program.

Grant specializes in the middle distance events. He has recorded personal best times of 2:16 in the 800 meters, and 5:26 in the 1,600 meter run.

"He is very versatile in his events and willing to do what is best for himself," Bruton said. "From conversations with his high school coach I know Travion still has a lot of potential and room to grow. It is also good for a coach when an athlete already has goals in mind becasue it helps us to help them succeed and reach their goals; Travion already has goals. We look forward to having him join us this fall."
