Southwestern Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach Trey Bruton recently announced the addition of Josiah Reed to the program for the 2020-21 seasons.
Reed, from Sheffield, Alabama signed his National Letter of Intent earlier this week. He specializes in the middle distance events, with personal bests of 53.3 in the 400 meter, and 2:06 in the 800m run.
While Reed will focus mainly on the middle distance events during track season he will also compete as a member of the Cross Country team during the Fall season.
"Josiah will bring more strength and depth to the team; he has some good experience already under his belt that will help him transition into the college level quite easily," Bruton said. "I think once he gets some more base training to go along with the work he has already put in he is primed to take off. The competition level in our middle distance group is going to be strong this upcoming season and it will be exciting to see them all push each other, Josiah can help us be very succesful."
