Southwestern will play at home in the quarterfinal round as they set out to defend their Region XI Tournament Championship on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, with a 7 p.m. tip-off. A season ago, the Spartans won three games in five days in Creston to earn a bid to the NJCAA DII National Tournament in Danville, IL. This year's tournament is March 20-24, again in Danville.
The Spartans will host Des Moines Area Community College during Tuesday's quarterfinal match-up. As the three-seed, the Spartans will need a win and upsets against some competitive teams to earn another home game this season.
"First things first, we have to beat a DMACC team who was top 10 nationally at one point this season," stated Spartan Head Coach Todd Lorensen. "If a break falls our way to get another home game we will gladly take it, but we also feel our schedule has prepared us to win big road games."
Lorensen said no matter where the tourney takes them, they will face stiff competition.
"This league is so tough top to bottom," said Lorensen. "We will have to battle no matter who the opponent is."
