The Spartan women's basketball team faced the Iowa Western Reivers in their last non-conference contest before starting ICCAC play on Saturday, Jan. 13.
The Reivers jumped out early and commanded the game from the start with a 23-5 lead to end the first quarter. Tougher defense and better offensive execution helped the Spartans play an even second quarter, tying the Reivers 15-15 in second-quarter play. At halftime, the Spartans were down 38-20.
Addae Houston, Spartan head coach, commended his team by saying, "Despite the score, I was very proud of the team's intensity, effort, and execution against a very tough Iowa Western squad. I hope the experience in this loss will help us prepare for the tough play in our conference."
The Spartans' loss moves the team to 6-7 on the season. They will return to action this Saturday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m., vs Iowa Lakes Community College, at home.
