The Southwestern Community College women's basketball team officially announced the signing of guard Chelsey Trautloff of Horton, KS, this week.
Trautloff, who stands at 5 feet 8 inches, attended Allen Community College in Iola, KS, last year, competing in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference as a college freshman for the Red Devils. Highlights of her freshman season included appearing in 31 games, scoring a season-high 17 points, and connecting on five three-point field goals in a 77-73 victory over Neosho County Community College.
During high school, Trautloff, who graduated in May 2016, was a 2016 Northeast Kansas League Honorable Mention selection and a 2016 Northeast Kansas All-Star Game selection.
Addae Houston, head coach for the Southwestern Spartans, said Trautloff is a quick-release shooting guard, who will help fill the void left by the graduation of Des Moines' native Julanie Carter, who finished sixth among national leaders in three-point field goals made.
"We are so excited to have Chelsey on board for the 2017-18 season," stated Houston. "Her experience competing in the Jayhawk Conference—one of the toughest conferences in the nation—will no doubt be valuable to the success of our team during the upcoming season.
Trautloff is the daughter of Shawn and Misty Trautloff of Horton, KS.
