Addae Houston, Southwestern Community College's head women's basketball coach, confirmed he has signed Omaha Northwest student-athlete Johnae Allen, a 6-foot forward, for the Spartans' 2017-18 run.

Allen joins high school teammate Kierra Brice on the Spartans' roster for fall. The two finished their season with the Omaha Northwest Huskies with a 19-9 overall record and were 10-6 in the Omaha Metro Conference. Allen graduated from Omaha Northwest in May 2017.

Houston said Allen's size and depth at the post position will be huge assets for this year's team because she plays tough and physical.

"Johnae's presence will no doubt aid our rebounding and defensive efforts inside the paint," Houston said. "And on the offensive side of the ball, she can extend the defense because she has the ability to shoot from mid-range, as well as beyond the arc."

Allen is the daughter of Kathryn O'Neal of Omaha.
